Adobe Responds to Steve Jobs Attacks

Steve Jobs has done some unprecedented trash talking about Flash running on Apple hardware – raising questions about the openness, security, reliability, speed, and battery life of Flash on iPhone OS and Mac hardware and software. In this probing  and blunt interveiw with Adobe’s CEO Shantanu Narayen, the Wall Street Journal gets down to the core issues. The number one idea is Apple’s closed, controlled development for the  iPhone OS platforms versus one development tool, runs across multi mobile and PC platforms approach taken by Adobe. Here it is:

Now Google has unequivocally supported Adobe and Flash. RIM with its new OS, HP with its new Palm webOS and Nokia with their new Symbian and Maemo mobile OS will get to speak in the next few weeks. Lets see where they stand on Apple’s closed and controlled approach to development versus use of cross platform Flash.


Well RIM makes it clear they are in the Adobe Flash camp and with the new Blackberry 6 OS, this could get interesting.
